The Driver Licensing system has been reviewed as part of Government’s commitment to achieve a more efficient transport regulatory system underpinned by better quality regulation.
The review found that the Driver Licensing system’s core policies are sound but there are areas of opportunity where improvements in the system could produce measurable social, safety, and economic benefits.
A discussion paper providing options for changing the Driver Licensing Rule was released on 19 April 2016.
The Review covers:
- Moving to a digital licensing environment
- Supporting a more productive commercial driving sector
- Standardising regulatory requirements and reducing compliance costs for endorsement holders
The consultation period wasSubmissions on these proposals are open for six weeks and closed on Thursday 2nd June 2016.
